Mature trees and older properties

Tetbury and the villages near it have a lot of established gardens with mature trees, and hedges that have been growing for decades. Pruning those carefully matters more than taking them back hard, because an old tree can take a long time to recover from a bad cut.

We also work around Westonbirt, Beverston and Shipton Moyne.

Trees and the council in Tetbury

Tetbury is covered by Cotswold District Council. A tree with a Tree Preservation Order needs the council's written consent before it is cut down, topped or lopped, and a tree in a conservation area needs six weeks' written notice first. Much of the old town is a conservation area, so notice to the council is a regular part of tree work here.

You can ask the council's planning team whether a tree is protected before any work starts, and we are happy to talk you through it when we come to look.
